Steve Irwin's boys at Australia Zoo said - if you get bitten by a snake just leave it and get to hostipal , they swab the wound to find out what it was - you dont need to catch it and they wont thank you.

Its all well and good trying to have a laugh and take the pee out of immigrants for our over reaction to some of the aussie wildlife

But at the end of the day there are dangerous animals here, yeah maybe not so much in the big cities but not everyone is living in the city, there are lots of us living in rural places and quite a few living on larger properties surounding the cities. I have seen many a snake and seen loads of and been bitten by a red back, Many of the people round here have been bitten, my neighbour by a brown snake last year.

Fair enough people don;t have to spend there lives worrying about where he next spider is gonna come from but rather than take the piss would it not be better to give people the correct information as to what to do if they are bitten and how to avoid bites in rural areas.

I'm pretty sure if any aussies were goin to Uk they'd rather be told that most of our train lines are electric and not powered by overhead cables and standing on the track will pretty much kill them, Or should we just take the piss for them daring to ask what that 3rd rail is for?? (OK completely different senario but you get the drift)
