Default alternative to selling or renting your house?

this morning as i lay in bed getting another headache because we haven't sold and i am very bad at not being in control of the planning i had a tempting idea. i put in a search for international home exchange (after i got up; i haven't got to the stage of taking ex pats to bed yet) and came up with lots of those holiday exchange sites. one of them let me look at the database; www.homelink.org.uk, and there were what seemed like suitable exchanges, SOME OF THEM LONG TERM, EVEN A YEAR. is this idea too good to be true or what? anybody looked into it?
