Smile Alcohol in container for shipping

Can anyone advise me on shipping alcohol in a container with household items. Over about the last 4 years we have travelled quite alot and always bring back a bottle of the local liquour or drink.

We will have about 40 bottles by the time we come to ship everything (hubby wants his own bar). Does anyone know if there are any restrictions on taking it into OZ?

If there are we will just have on hell of a good party here before we leave!

Thanks for any info.

Gillian

You will need to declare it in your customs declaration - failure of which could mean they conviscate not just the alcohol.

We got rid of 100 bottles before we left - dont drink as much as I used too - have to keep reasonably somber with young one and while wife was in traction.

it seems most people do not bother due to duty costs. We had used some wine boxes for packing some books, even though 'books' were written on the boxes, at least one of them had been opened going through customs/quarantine

Friends of ours got their booze shipped across (Pickfords packed it before they got chance to get rid!) and it all came across no problem! About 32 bottles in all I believe - I wouldnt imagine for a second that it was marked up as alcohol though and they certainly didnt declare it. Not recommended I suppose but I'm bloody gutted that they got away with it after we gave all of ours away!!
