Thanks.

Great town, amazing scenery, about 4.5-5 hours drive from Perth, no train service, coach services, airport with flights to Perth. I could live there quite easily, but education for my kids would be trickier than it already is in Perth. Hicksville - risk of that in any town in WA, including Perth itself - so, yes and no. Depends on how you like to spend your spare time.
There are some jobs listed on the quick search I just did, but most were lowly paid, some only part time, and you would expect locals to get the jobs over outsiders and newcomers, unless it is a job that needs real experience and qualifications. I saw jobs in education, retail, agriculture and earthmoving or truck driving. UWA have a small campus there. Also, although you might type in Albany on the search, some of the jobs were in Mt Barker or Katanning, which would mean driving about 1 hr each way on country roads.
There was a BE member who lives there - perhaps do a search on here for them.

Nice place, lovely scenery, shite weather. Loads of great white sharks in the ocean around there too.

If I had enough money to retire I would live there like a shot - great scenery and good fishing.

Same here too, but there are more work opportunities in Albany, and the drive over every day would get very tiresome very quickly, the fuel costs down there can be upsetting. Denmark has its own issues and the cost of food shopping is as bad as the fuel costs. Both towns and surrounding areas are beautiful.
