Default IT agencies

Do you know of a good IT agency I can send off my CV too. I have just got my PR visa and have arranged the one way flight to Sydney for early May. But I wish to start getting the feel for what the job market is like for IT people.

Stuh,

Congratulations on getting your visa. I bet it's a great feeling.

The best job site I could find is:

http://www.jobs-australia.com

I'm sure there's others out there, but I've seen lots of decent jobs listed here.
Sign up for the automatic email with jobs that fit your profile, that way you don't
have to check on the site every day.

Good luck in Australia, I hope this post doesn't show the background of envy it was
typed with.

Please do not be fooled by Job's posted on the web and also in Newspaper'S. I work in Networking and Datacomms - was given the belief that I would walk into a job as soon as we landed in Oz.

After a couple of months of sweet FA I finally went to work for a Recruitment consultancy - I though that I might aswell get paid whilst searching for my job!!!

All I can say is that 9 out of 10 jobs that we advertised were phantom jobs - posted to entice candidates and to get them through the door.

Anyway not all is doom and gloom after 3 weeks working with the biggest bunch of unscrupulous bast@rds, I managed to get myself a nice little earner!

A few of my friends whom work in recruitment are all saying the same thing ie that the market is very poor at the moment.
Don't give up hope though.

Stuh,

I've added a few links below, but I don't think the results you get from searches
will be overly representative of the 'real' job market out there. As stated before,
some are phantom jobs, just to get you on their books. Also, once you've looked at a
few sites, some of the jobs will look awfully familiar...

http://www.hays.com.au/main/index.asp http://jobsearch.monster.com.au/
http://www.jobnet.com.au/ http://www.mycareer.com.au/

Good luck.

Cheers, Paul.

Stuh

The're are a lot of job sites for IT people in Oz but if you put in a very specfic search you will find that 30 to 40% are the same jobs! ( and I beleive that these are the only real ones!) put a search out for Jobs Auatralia (googles a good search engine) and go for it!!! by the way UK sites are even worse they are always putting ghost jobs on sites to attract applicants it really does my nogging in!

Enjoy and post back lots when in Oz
