Smile after dark in Brisbane

hi all,

i just found out that it gets dark in Brisbane at 7pm roughly, we had ideas of mobing to Wynnum and sitting in garden wine in hand, but sounds like we'd be fighting off the mozzies in the dark?

so what is nightime like in Brisbane? is it that bad?
how do you socialise at night?

cheers marie x

Perth gets dark in the summer around 8 - 8.30 PM during daylight savings. In winter it gets dark around 6.30 - 7 PM.

The best place for lighter evenings is Tasmania. A close second is Melbourne, where in summer it is light until 9.30pm and in winter is not dark until 5.30pm.

This contributed in a minor way to us choosing Melbourne over Brisbane.

Hi
Trust me...in the summer you will be glad for the sun to go down, for the cooler temperature! We eat outside breakfast/lunch/dinner almost all year round. Mozzies don't bother us...just get a few anti mozzie candles, and give yourself a spray with insect repellent if it's a problem. The dark doesn't effect our socialising, and pool lights mean swimming at night is no problem either!
Good luck in Wynnum!

We have lots of fairy lights in our courtyard and lots of candles. We think it is lovely to sit out there once it is dark with a glass of wine.

One of the MAJOR factors that swayed us from Brisbane over to Melbourne was the dark nights.

We like to cycle, walk, run, sit in the sun and relax etc after work - I used to get so down in the winter in hte UK leaving fo work in the dark, and returning in the dark. I know it wont be cold at least, but it was that perpetual darkness that was so claustraphobic.

I have found the daylight times perfect here in Melbourne so far. Enough time to get home, do something in the light, have your dinner and then settle down t osome cozt TV as the sun dissapears.

Each to their own though.
