Advice and Help Wanted Please
#1
Hi All
Happy New Year to you ALL
Thought I would put up a post for a bit of advice, any help welcome.
Myself, Partner and Son are emigrating to Perth in late July/August, we have travelled there 3 times and we like areas like Butler, Tapping etc.
We have friends in Butler and thought this maybe a good starting point, I am a Maintenance Electrician/Service Engineer and would look for work after about a month or so (I know all about the license so I am ok as I have one).
Does anybody have any good contacts relating to Service Engineers roles, I am looking for companies, which Service, Maintain and Repair any equipment including Food Industry, UPS's, Medical etc etc.
My partner will try and settle our son in school etc first then look for work.
Firstly we would like to rent a house for 6 months or so, how easy is it to sort this out before we left the UK, has anybody got any good contacts?
Is renting a house for 6 months a good idea at the moment? or do you suggest we look to buy earlier than later?
Does anybody have any good or bad experiences with the schools and also general living in Butler?
Is there anything you have wished you had done before leaving the UK, tax problems, National Insurance, references etc etc
We are looking to stop off for a week in maybe Singapore on the way there as we have never stayed there, is this a good stop over? any advice on hotels in Singapore?
There is probably loads more we need to ask so if there is anything anybody can add please do.
Sorry the post is quite long but I have read so many good quality post's and thought we could get some advice. I am finding this a really scary process and I know your advice would be welcome. We have changed our minds so many times on wether to go or not, we have now decided we need to go instead of regretting it for the rest of our lives.
Thanks in advance, Daz

We are in Butler at the moment and have just bought here. We really like it - family friendly , good schools, near the beach.
Others may say its too far out from the City but its half hour by train from Clarkson 5 mins drive down the road and about 40-50 mins by car (more at rush hour).
Some other posters from this site live in Tapping and may fill you in
Rentals are sparce but we found one without too much hunting around
Good luck with the move - it can be grim !

We stopped over in Singapore and loved it. We stayed for 3 nights on Sentosa Islands and stayed at the shangri-la hotel. It was really beautiful and would highly recommend.
I think if you book with Singapore Air you may get a discount on the hotel. Don't quote me on that though, hubby did all the booking!
The transfers went smoothly and thoroughly enjoyed Sentosa Island as a whole.
We have 2 boys 12 and 4 and they loved it too.

Plus the above questions we were also wondering how did you go about accommodation on arrival, had you already had a rental or did you spend a few weeks in a holday apartment/house and then search for an appropriate rental etc.
We are moving to Perth so if you have any contacts and advice it would be much appreciated.
Thanks Daz
