I MOVING to Sydney in APRIL 2006, on PR Visa along with kids

2 daughters 11 yrs & 5 yrs

need to know whether i can get admission in schools during those months

and how critical is the process in getting admissions

We have been on Gold Coast for 3 months now and we went in to the school
that we wanted our kids to go to and put their names down and they started.

I don`t think there will be a problem, from what I`ve heard from others this
is always the case.

I agree with Tracey - we rolled up to our school of choice mid November and even though there were less than 5 weeks of the school year left they kitted our girls out with uniform then and there and were happy for them to start immediately!

I think that is normal with ALL the State schools. Private schools are obviously different

Why what do they do??

Private schools have waiting lists ... depending on area. Some privates you put the kids name down from birth...you do not just rock up!

And state schools...have areas...so for the popular ones you need to be living in area to get a place.

Actually just like the UK!
