ADL or MEL, decisions...

ADL or MEL, decisions...
I just can't decide where to head to when I go out later this year.
I have family in Adelaide, and know quite a few of their friends, so I was always destined to join them. But I look on seek at jobs, and 0 come up in my area of work.
My favourite city in Oz is Melbourne. I know nobody there, but I think I would love to live there. I never planned on going there though, as the obvious choice was ADL. But, on seek, there are about 5 pages of jobs.
If I was to go to ADL, I could stay with my Aunt for as long as I liked whilst looking for job and a rental, so it would be easier, and I would just shove them money for rent and help out around the house, as they wouldn't accept any rent money officially.
If I went to Melbourne, I would have to find somewhere to rent quickly, which I don't mind, but I would be far away from my relatives, and I really would like to be close to them. But employment looks much better in MEL.
Maybe I can go to ADL and test the water for work, and if I have no luck within a month or so, head across to MEL.
My other option, is to stay in ADL, but start work in another area, and I've always been interested in the Police, but I would have to look into their acceptance and training terms.
I think this is just a "think out loud" thread. Thanks for reading lol

If you go to Adelaide, there's always the very significant risk that you will be waylaid by a fanatical group of expat ladies who will ply you with coffee & cake. Especially cake.
Melbourne is much safer

Go to Melbourne. It's where you want to be. And there's more opportunities for you. Give it a go for 6 months to a year, then if you're missing the relatives or it doesn't fulfil your expectations then move over to Adelaide. You can always go visit them a few times a year, MEL to ADL isn't that far by plane or train.
IMO if you go to Adelaide you'll alway miss what's going on in Melbourne. Of the two cities, for a young person, it's got to be MEL.
Of course, you could do ADL first to ease your way into the country, and have ambition to move to MEL in a year if a job opportunity comes up. It's not like you're going to be stuck in one place or the other regardless of which one your chose first.

Serious answer now...
Lots of people report difficulty finding work due to lack of Oz experience & you are saying already that there are no opportunities for you in Adelaide...imagine a role did come up for you, you would be competing with applicants that did have that important Oz experience.
I would go to Melbourne, it's where you want to be & flights to visit your relatives are easy to arrange. At least a twice daily service if I remember rightly & a discount ticket is about $70. If after a few months you decide it isn't for you, at least you can go to Adelaide with some work experience under your belt
Good luck!!!

Well being plyed with cake by a group of ladies, sounds ideal!
I think prospects seem better if I was to head to MEL. Although, I have often heard that when it comes to getting employment in Oz, it's not what you know it's who you know, and I definately know more people in ADL.
I would be happy in ADL, and having friends and family there would make it so much easier. But they won't pay the bills. (Well, maybe if I asked nicely, or maybe these ladies will )
My move is about 5 months off at the moment, so will keep an eye on the jobs advertised. I have a feeling I may end up heading to MEL though. As said above, I could always give it a go, and then head to ADL after a year with some Australian work experience.

I think that if Melbourne is your favourite place and provides more work opportunities for you then you should go there. I am from Adelaide and have many family members that have moved to Melbourne to live and we have no problems keeping in touch and catching up quite regularly. A flight from Adelaide to Melbourne takes around an hour & a half and you can get cheap flights easily.
Good Luck
