Adelaide, we will be there...reason enough!!

Never been to Perth....

Adelaide is small enough to remain nice, not too spread out, protecting areas from building, hills one side, sea the other. Sea and beaches lovely, protected from ocean as in a gulf. Weather fab, hot and dry, mild rest of year. Barossa valley, say no more.

Can fly there direct now...

Hope you make it there scoobs..

Simple question, needs a cop-out answer: 'Whichever one suits you the most!"

It's a chalk and cheese thing, I like to visit Perth but couldn't see myself living there, just a bit too isolated whereas Adelaide, well it's difficult to put into words but Adelaide just feels like home. In fact it feels more like home than home does.

Hi Mash,

We looked at flights and noted the Malaysian Airlines one via Kualar Lumpar(?!) then on to Adelaide. We then heard a rumour that this actually calls at Sydney / Melbourne first. You've probably got your tickets already. Whats the score?

Regards

K

id go to perth over adelaide

spent 4 days in adelaide and had enough, never seen so many tramps, drop outs , hippies and winos in one small city before, went into macdonalds for breakfast one morning in the centre when i first arrived there and saw a young teenager with a baby in a pram and she was smacking up, after that went to christies beach to stay in a campsite and had hot rodding races all night outside the campsite and got threatened at the bottle shop, left rather soon to croos the nullabor and even got hassled in port augusta, thought that was adump as well, funny place called iron knob kept us amused

now i lived in northbridge for 4 months in perth and didnt get any hassle from any of the gangs there and had a better time in perth, thought the city was more relaxed a lot friendlier, everthing seemed easier to find, great beaches, manage to catch football, aussie rules, trialthlon, casino was better, a very diverse area for entertainment and resturants, east v west boxing tournament was quality in northbridge, great laksa food from the malysian

thats enough now, only my opinion

Used to stop at Adelaide via Malaysia for 1 hour but can stay on the plane. Feels a right pain though as you go over Adelaide to Melbourne then back. Think they now go direct. Far as I'm aware the Singapore one we've booked (and now paid for) goes direct!

Isn't Adelaide meant to be a bit boring? The functionary influence? However delightful the greenery and street layout.

Cheers - Don

Red face Adelaide

Perth is hot, busy and very modern. It was great to see everyone reaching for their sweaters and wooly hats when it fell to 25 deg. C - but I found it was a bit of a problem keeping the kids from getting sunburned. People very friendly.

Adelaide is cooler (but still a great climate), and has great victorian architecture. I loved the botanic gardens, and the parklands round the zoo.

Adelaide was much cheaper than Perth & felt much more 'homely' than Perth (but I am a boring old fart with 2 kids who loves being outdoors) I suspect that it's harder to find work in Adelaide than Perth.
If I could choose (and at 5 points short, I'm all out of choices bar STNI), I'd go for Adelaide every time.

Looks like I'm destined to stay in rain soaked Sussex unless someone nice offers me a job.....

Caroline
