Default Adelaide Suburbs

Hi there,

New to this!

I am interested in your views relating to the areas around the North of Adelaide. I am looking at the Greenwith,Wynn Vale, Golden Grove areas.

Education and housing are high on our list, which schools would you recommended and ones to avoid, we have 2 boys aged 10 and 11 who are really sporty and also doing really well academically. I am in the process of transfering from the RAF to RAAF interview in the next few weeks

Any information regarding RAAF Base Edinburgh and the surrounding area would be very useful

Thank you

Paul

Hi Paul,

I live near all of those suburbs. From researching these area's when we were looking 18 months ago, they are pretty much of a muchness really. By that I mean the look and feel of them all. I would live in any of them without a problem, they are all lovely suburbs and there are some amazing views up there. The only reason I don't is that we couldn't afford to buy the type of house we wanted - so ended up buying a larger house in a cheaper area just down the road.

Schools - speak with Zoe (milly123) on here as I know she knows quite a bit about the schools in Adelaide. She won't beat around the bush and will give you her honest opinion.

What do you want to know about Edinburgh Park? my OH works there but not in the defence industry so he's more on the outskirts of the area. But he may be able to answer a few questions if you are more specific on what you want to know.

Hello Paul and Joanne

Most of us in Adelaide only venture north of the city to look at car yards!

Come south to where you can see and touch the Gulf. If you're a real RAF boy you can fly in and out of Aldinga Aerodrome anyway!!!

Cheers and good luck

Hi Wendy,

Thanks for the reply, apart from the suburbs i mentioned, are most of the joining areas good places to settle. I will be renting until we find our feet. Thanks for the refering me to milly123, i will send her a pm asking about schools etc. I will be joining the RAAF so wanted to find out a little more about Ebinburgh (more than the RAAF website will give you). Thanks again,

Oh the good old North South debat pops up again!

What makes me laugh is 90% of the time the "Southerners" commenting on the North have never actually been and looked around, just followed the majority!

My advice would be take a good look around all areas, whats for one isnt for all!

Why would he want to live south,? when he,s working at Edinburgh Air Base and have a 45 minute commute every morning and evening.
When you join the RAAF, you will be entitled to a Defence housing ,house. most of these are in the areas you have mentioned..............mm

I live in one of the adjoining area's and I like it here I do love Wynn Vale though, it's really lovely there.

Edinburgh Park is mostly industrial - lots of defence work goes on up there and there's also some car related industries as Holdens isn't far from there. There isn't any residential area's there (that I've seen anyway!) but there are in the surrounding area's.

I agree, I commute every day from where I am to South Road/ANZAC Highway (I'm working in the office on the underpass project until Xmas) and it's not any fun when you are travelling nearly 2 hours a day to get to work. There's so much more that you can do with that time than spend it in your car!

Hi,

We will be moving to Adelaide in the next few years and we have a 15 month old son. We would like to see if there is a book we can buy (or information we can get) regarding schools there. We are not sure what type of scholl system yet and I know you can get information off the internet but we prefer a "paper" based option.

Thanks in advance
Michelle
