I live here - north of Adelaide on the edge of the Barossa Valley. We like it (me and youngest son only).
Probably more affordable than some areas for housing, good transport links, plenty to see and do (IMO - others may disagree). Can't comment on schools personally but from what I've heard from others, they are generally good.

Loving life here in the Adelaide Hills. Our kids are grown one in Canberra now (work) and one still in Adelaide with partner. She has lived in Cairns and Melbourne but is very settled here and happy.
It may depend on what your jobs are and what lifestyle you want……
