Accomodation in Sydney for 2 months
We are planning our move to Sydney in August, flights booked & becoming more excited by the day.
On arrival, we'll probably stay in a hotel for a couple of nights until we start to get over our jet lag. From there, we need to find somewhere to stay until we can line up a longer term rental, with it taking a reported 2 months for people to find rentals at the moment, we need something fairly comfortable but not too expensive.
We're considering a caravan park (very summer bay) and found this place, has anyone stayed here? Opinions will be much appreciated.

I quite like the idea of it feeling a bit more like a holiday to begin with, but need to be able to get to the CBD if we get jobs sorted during this time.
Any other recomendations would also be appreciated.

As far as rentals go things will be starting to harden up a bit when you arrive in August with people liking the idea of living near the beach in summer... You don't need to worry about 2 months to get one as long as you have got your ducks lined up properly... Get a bank account sorted before you arrive and when you get here change your address to your temporary one and get a statement run off... And get your debit Mastercard/Visa ASAP... You can use those in conjunction with your Passport to get a NSW driving licence which makes everything much much easier... Everyone loves those things and you'll get asked for its' number all the time, including by the Real Estate Agents when you're trying to rent something... Then make sure you're got 3 months rent to pay in advance and start looking all the time on the property sites for rentals you might be interested in... The agents tend to hold open houses so be prepared to go look and if you like it tell the agent and fill the form in there and then and make sure he knows you're offering 3 months up front...
Should be a stroll...

Hi Mazza
Yes vacancy rates for Sydney are at an all time low of just 1.4% for Feb 2007 so you will need to be prepared. I think staying in a park like Narrabeen Lakes is a great idea, and will also give you breathing space to find something you really want, rather than second guessing over the internet and being subsequently disappointed. Depending on where you want to rent/live, rents will vary naturally, as well as your budget!
Narrabeen unfortunately has limited transport to the CBD (buses only) but is a lovely place for a holiday whilst you sort yourselves out. I'd also second the recommendation to get your drivers licence asap - at least you guys drive on the right side of the road like us Aussies!!
Good luck with the move
