Accomodation in Melbourne

Accomodation in Melbourne
We (me, hubby and 3 kids aged 13, 11 and 5) are arriving in Melbourne on 3rd Nov and are having trouble booking short term accomodation. All hotels, serviced apartments seem to be fully booked from that date for 2 - 3 weeks. Apparently the Melbourne Cup is on around this time and lots of people staying in Melbourne for same. We don't really want to stay too far out of Melbourne, because hubby is only going to stay for 3 weeks initially and then return to UK to sort out work etc. We need somewhere to stay short term while we look at areas to rent in, schools, jobs etc. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks

You could email the tourist board based in Federation Sq. and ask them whats available.

We could suggest places out of the city. I ended up at Mornington by choice, in a "BIG 4 " caravan park that had cabins sleeping 6.
Have you tried asking on Britvics site for help?
