Is this it?

As the movie said...
Landed in Brisbane two weeks ago, and yes the initial excitement has worn off big time.
Better weather, true. But what else? I'm from England and have spent five years in NZ.
There is very little everyday difference between the countries.
Somebody mentioned the 'clone Zone' and already I identify with it.
Australia has less culture than NZ! What has happened to the indiginous folk who used to live here? Where are they?
It's like living in a huge car lot. White bread without the grain. TV for the masses. Dumbed down and out.
No soul. No charisma. No je ne said quoi. Nothing.
It IS the most boring place on the planet. No question.
Im sure I will hear about why it's so great. But a country without soul has nothing.

Sorry you don't like Brisbane mate. There's things about Brissy that I don't like aswell. But I wouldn't say it's boring.

aahhh yes.. the usual considered response to anybody who has the gall to say anything that doesn't go with the idea that God only made the rest of the World to give people somewhere to stand and gaze in awe at the wonder that is Australia..... something that I also saw on a sticker.

Those first few weeks are more like a holiday, suspended reality. And Brisbane for two weeks would be a dull holiday destination. Hopefully you'll come to appreciate it more when / if it begins to feel more long-term and you'll find the things you were hoping for when you first moved there. Try and get out of Brisbane and explore the surrounding areas if you can, it gets less 'white bread' when you're away from the man made environment!

Indeed. Personally I found Brisbane to be just right of Blandsville, so I moved to Sydney, which is a whole lot better in my opinion.
Far more life, and still only a stones throw from great beaches, mountains, bush, etc etc.
Don't judge the whole country on the basis of Brisbane. It's like judging the UK on Milton keynes. Or all of Russia on State Collective Town #2673.

I really like Brissie. There are some lovely buildings, for example the Parlaiment buildings and city hall. I like wakig down to the Botanic gardens and getting an ice cream. The Southbaank is great too, esp on a hot day. There are museums and art galleries. How much more cultured do you want to be than that LOL

What a balanced, well thought out sentence. Just think about that for a bit and tell me that's what you honestly think
Wellington's, what, a 3 hour flight. Are you telling us that you moved to a city 3 hours away from where you were and didn't do a reccy?

Not even a holiday for, what, a couple of weeks??

It's true after all. Men do mature slower than women.
