We have moved pretty quick in our five weeks here.By the end of week 2 we had bought a block of land in Secret harbour 600m from a gorgeous beach Then we organised our well priced and very clean long term rental.Got the girls organised in their education which by the way seems excellent with plenty of work done by the 7 year old and reading and spellings every night.

Bought a couple of vehicles and organised all the boring stuff what you,ve just ended in the UK.

I start work tomorrow and can,t wait as i,m looking forward to bringing our first Aussie $$$$$$,s home.So thats it in a nutshell we feel like our feet hav,nt touched the ground since we,ve been here.Don,t think when you land thats the hard bit done get stuck in with the sorting out and the sooner you get that done your away

We are getting back to normal now and me going to work will help with our routine. When i say normal yesterday we went down to secret harbour beach and the girls played in and out of the water while i went for a swim in the pristine ocean, not exactly normal for the UK but is when you get over here.

Hi all,

thanks for the nice replies

I,ll try and answer all the questions below.

Mary and Paula thats made my day hearing about your houses going through that has got to be the worst part of the whole thing. As we know what it,s like when you have to keep dropping it just to get people through the door. It,s all good now though, just don,t compromise when you buy over here.

Kevin l,

The land we wanted had already sold it was on the bancoura release.Anyway even though we had only been here a few days we kept popping in to the land sales office checking if any of the sold ones became available. The house sale in the uk had completed we checked the day after and there was our block. The sale had fell through due to the finance collapsing of the other buyer.Perfect timing we bought it there and then. There will be another release on that stage in a month or so.Our land was $199,000 so i would expect that if not more the way it,s going here at the mo.If you don,t mind being a little further from the beach the same block on the other side of the main road will cost about $50,000 less. When we bought ours i did,nt expect to pay that much but the more i look at the block now and where it is i think i,ve got a bagain. We wanted to go the build way as then we get exactly what we want. When you are coming over will depend on what you will pay for either land and house or just house. It is booming here in WA and the word is it is,nt slowing for a while yet.We are going to sign for a builder soon as the company we are using have put their prices up and avearge of 1% per month lately. At the minuet a good house here in Secret harbour will cost around $330,000 up.Don,t be put off though i saw one advertised over the weekend a 4x2 closish to the beach for $289,000.So there are still good buys.
Airport 45 mins.

ps.i finished work today and went for a walk on secret harbour beach. When i cut through the sand dunes i saw 3 lizards about a foot long. The last one was walking across the path in front of me and it just stopped and was staring at me.You know your somewhere special when you do and see stuff like that after a days work
Good luck to everyone with the wait at the mo it,s definatley worth it.

Thanks Dave,
land prices seem crazy, once you add the house in its got to take you over $400,000.
We don't really want a mortgage but I guess we might just have to.

I had the same thought a few months ago.Sam and myself had a good talk before we came out and realised that we would have to mortgage if we want to live where we are going to.If you make that decision before you come out and are aware of what you may need to do that will help. One of the first things i did when i arrived was to check if and how much i could borrow even before we got our heart set on an secret harbour.
If you need any other help give us a shout.
