Yeah and Dyson's are very clean anyway. No filters, just empty out the cartridge and it's like new.
We might bring them and see what happens. BTW I asked this on another thread probably should have been here, the other one was about picture frames: Anyone know if we can take these? |
Re: 5 Things
We didn't bring anything because hadn't got anything worth shipping (rented accomodation in UK) but after 3 months here this time and a year here a while back the only thing I would like here which can't get is Anthisan or equivalent (e.g. cream containing antihistamine for bites and stings) - have asked in pharmacy and apparently it or an equivalent is not sold here you can get tablets (make me too drowsy) or antiseptic type creams but not a cream with antihistamine - if someone on here knows of one in Australia let me know! Luckily Anthisan is small and visitors can bring me a tube when they come over.
Although I agree having to shop for everything is a pain, it would have been a pain we would have had to endure in the UK had we moved out of furnished accomodation, I would have been almost as clueless about where to buy a hoover and what sort in the UK as I was here! |
Re: 5 Things
Hi there... not far from us ... Syds Pies at Beenleigh ... he's a Scottish butcher who does pies / gammon / black pudding etc etc a la UK ... also a reasonable selection of UK brands inc Walkers (just watch the sell by dates) ... also, at Birkdale Britain on Bayside ... big selection of UK brands
Cheers ... David |
Re: 5 Things
Yes there are things I missed as soon as I came over and a far smaller number of things I miss after a year or so but as a number of posts have said you're starting a new life ... The quality / range of some things (eg fresh food) are better ... things like ready meals not so good ... in terms of household stuff we bought over far too much will probably have a garage sale ... but that's because we got UK type furniture / goods in sub tropical QLD.
There are places in / around Brisssie where you can get UK brands (refer my previous post) but most things have Aussie equivalents ... and yes you may have to try a couple of brands before you get it right (eg Liptons Black Label if you like strong tea) My other half misses companies such as Lakeland ... But in the overall scheme of things it's not the end of the world and the few things you miss will be outweighed by the lifestyle / weather etc Cheers ... David |
