Question 40kg allowance when going to 2 destinations?

We will be emigrating to Australia in the next few months (hopefully)

We would like to visit friends when we first get there, who live in Brisbane. Then we would need to travel over to Perth where we want to settle.

Does anyone know if this will affect our 40kg entitlement or has anyone done the same sort of thing?

TIA

Not done it, but I think your best approach would be to email Qantas and Virgin and ask them if they'll give you the allowance. I suspect probably not - you may have to freight the extra across the country.

Hi , we flew into Sydney for a weeks hols then up to Brisbane to settle here on the sunshine coast. We had to make do with 20kg entitlement as internal flights would only allow us this without paying huge excess. We flew into Aus with Singapore (fantastic) and to Brisie with Virgin.

Check what the excess will be, we came over on Business to Melbourne and then flew Virgin to Sydney, with about 60K's excess, and the charge would have only been $60!..but at check-in the assistant pointed out the excess and warned me that next time I would have to pay, but not this time

Depending on finances you may find that the excess cost isn't as bad as you may think, esp compared to UK/International fares

If it's all on one ticket you may have a chance but be sure to get it in writing, if you are using a domestic carrier for the internal you have absolutely no chance.

My advice FWIW just take 20kg and ship the rest in your container, if you are holidsying on the way you wont have to wait too long for your container, it will make journeying to and from the airport much easier and everything will be much less stressful than having to lug around twice as much stuff with you.
