Top tip for weighing :
don't put your case on the scales - it may be resting off balance or half on the floor; weigh yourself, then yourself carrying the suitcase...

Mash,
We have 8 big suitcase bags - £12 from Matalan. They come in at 160 - 40 each with Singapore. We had John Masons in the other day but have had to deliver them more stuff today as all the last min bits and pieces took us loads over.
Fly tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I'm going off to buy some large holdalls £4.99 each from the market, stuff it full and weigh it.....I think I'll need a van to get us to the airport...
See you in adelaide, adelaide girl.

havent spoken on here for a while but generally read quite often Read with interest the post about not been able to lock cases due to security(have not heard of this one). I fly all over the world with my job in a rally team and would send no case unlocked, we have had to much stolen over the years. we also use cable ties to lock together zips on holdalls and sometimes heavily shrink wrap expensive items(dont want to cause unnecessary worry as most of our luggage is covered in logos, thus attracting attention, but still worth thinking about)
Also we take loads of excess baggage and have found a foot wedged under the scales saves lots of money(loafers work best).
If all else fails haggle!!!

Good post Mikenvonny. It was me that posted about not being able to lock your bags ... I was taken aback when I had to take the locks off our bags as like you, I wouldn't normally dream of sending anything without either a padlock or cable ties. We travelled in April and May this year, to the US, UK and Hong Kong, and used the following airlines. Qantas, American Airlines, BA, and Cathay Pacific. The security was heavy everywhere, but particulary noticable in the USA (as you would imagine) with each case being opened and checked at the check-in point by an airline employee running a cloth over the handles and around the inside of the case (presumably impregnated by some sort of chemical to detect explosives).
