Re: 20ft container quote

Hi
I have just waved goodbye to my 20ft container/reefer at 2.00 this afternoon. The contents of my large 3 bedroomed house all fitted in with only room for two more boxes. We used PSS and cannot fault the three lads I had round today and yesterday, would throughly recommend PSS to anyone on this site.
OMG just a couple of weeks until we fly out to Oz. £3,100.00 + £250.00 for insurance. I have £12,000 covered. Not sure if that is good or not but anyway all done and gone now.

Hope this gives you some idea.

Tracey

Re: 20ft container quote

we are using a company called westone and edwards (which also are in partnership with another company forgot their name sorry) cover essex, suffolk and sommerset areas, i have used them for years for uk removals and have accepted a quote for a 20 ft container (we have a five bed house but not taking wardrobes as fitted) £3180. In my opinion they are excellent and come with my recommendation. a friend of mine moved out in June of this year and i recommended them and she can not believe how good they were. their website is www.westonandedwards.co.uk. Goodluck:)

Re: 20ft container quote

We got a quote from AngloPacific for our 1 bed flat, including 3 seat sofa/TV/kitchen table and quite a lot more for £1500 with insurance on top of that which is 3% of value of items.

Not bad considering they come and pack everything and it's door-to-door with all customs etc done.

Re: 20ft container quote

I am torn between PSS and Bishop's Move. PSS are about £70 more expensive at just over £4 including insurance. However, they say they do not cover mould and mildew. From the people who have used a shipping company, was there an issue with mould and mildew? Is this insurance worth it. And, done a quick google for crown but cant find them. Anyone able to post a link please.

Re: 20ft container quote

Our company has gone with Davies Turner - at just over £5K, they are pretty expensive but have always been excellent in the past for UK - USA moves.

In the price, they are also supplying a BIG specially treated box to take my large fish tank.

I'm not paying so not that bothered....sometimes you get what you pay for maybe? The people who know about it at our place say the difference is:

1. Quality of packing materials
2. If the container is transhipped through Singapore - its cheaper for the shipper, but you run a higher risk of your stuff getting nicked by the dockers in Singapore when they see it is personel effects.
3. If they are using a reefer (refridgerated container on a return leg) or a traditional container.

I paid my Doree Bonner invoice today - £3966.67 including insurance, WITH mould and mildew cover. (Also derangement, and pairs & sets). I got 4 weeks free storage in the UK, and delivery to any of Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane (No, we don't know where to settle!) whichever we decide when we get there. Packers due on the 14th...

Jools,
We used Anglo Pacific and paid £3,500 for a 4 bed house with lots of toys and garage items. They were brilliant and also do part loads on a sharing container basis.
Good luck

Re: 20ft container quote

What other options are there apart from a whole or part share of a 20 footer?

We are thinking of leaving the big furniture here (beds, suite, wardrobes) and just bringing everything else.
We are worried about losing things in a shared container.

Can you get smaller containers? Even smaller than a reefer?

Hi:) was that a while back?-as they just quoted us the same i.e. £3400 for a 1 bed flat - 2 people's possessions with no garage..I think it must be because we need a load of crates making specially for glass table tops and the like
