just had a phone call off my shipping firm, they said if we want our belongings at a house there for xmas they would have to go before the end of sept.
they said this is because of poss 2-3 week delays/backlog in singapore harbour.
anyone heard the same story??

I was told 5 - 7 weeks for 20 ft container to Perth, that was last week we were quoted, going mid Oct this yr. We want to ship about 4 wks b4 we fly but you need to be in Oz for arrival and they thought that would be cutting it fine????

we were told 8-12 weeks back in July (though that is for a shared container) plus however long it takes to clear customs. Our stuff is due to arrive on Friday which will be about 11 weeks from them picking it up- then we wait to see how long customs take over it.

Anything arriving close to Christmas is a problem as Customs and AQIS close down.
My stuff left the UK mid October, arrived Christmas Eve, delivered mid February.
If you want your stuff here and delivered for Christmas the sooner it goes the better, you are pushing it from now onwards........

It also depends on what removal company you use. We used Crown because it meant we only had to deal with one company all the way through.
With other removal companies you'll have them only dealing with the UK end, then have a seperate customs agent, and then an Oz removal company to deliver it to your house. The more companies are involved the more delays you get as each of them has to fit your shipment into their schedule.
Also: Crown use Maersk as the shipping company and they sail straight to Australia without stopping (takes 30 days to Fremantle).
In our case: our container left our house on Thurs 8 Nov 2007. The container ship sailed the following Thursday and docked in Fremantle exactly a month later on 16 Dec. And we got a phone call from Crown on 3 Jan to say they wanted to deliver our stuff. I was really surprised as I'd expected there to be much more of a delay because of the Christmas holidays.
Crown are more expensive. But if you want your stuff quickly ...

I am still awaiting my sea freight...it was shipped in Mid May and should be arriving in port this week..then another 3 weeks from there. So who ever came up with 8-12 weeks in Allfreight was telling BIG lies... Oh and my airfreight took nearly 7 weeks alone!!

whats the reason they have given for such a long delay especially your air stuff ?

Our stuff was collected from us end-May, arrived in Brisbane on 21 August and is being delivered this Monday. Feels like a lifetime - it will be so nice to get our stuff back and start living normally again!!!

it was collected from meat the end of june and stored as it was just boxes and they couldn't fit it in the shared container as there wasn't enough room left so it had to wait for the next shipment!! doree bonner they use grace over here
