Hi guys. Great thread! Me (Robin) and my wife (Amber) are moving to Perth on 27th Jan 09! Can't wait! I'm quite lucky as my Amber grew up there and her family live there still. We'll be staying with her parents in Kalamunda. I've only been to Oz once but i loved it. We're in the process of selling most of our stuff as we won't need furniture, winter clothes, homeware stuff etc. It's starting to feel real now! We're expecting our first baby in March so i don't think I'll have time to feel homesick either!!

Don't be too hasty selling off your winter clothes......they may be expensive to replace

My thoughs exactly. It gets mighty cold in Perth in the winter. Having lived over 40 years in Canada I have never felt so cold as I do from July to October here.

When i say winter clothes i mean heavy rain jackets and that sort of thing. The clothes we're keeping for the Uk winter will get us through any aussie winter! I figure the Uk MUST be colder than Perth

I know this sounds like a needle in a hay stack jobbie but because we haven't been before we are going off jobs and recommendations etc (Call me crazy, I won't mind!!)

Hi Rob and Amber,

I hope you are both well. Mark and I are moving to Perth in 09 and want to talk to people who are going through the same process as us. We have been several times to Kalamunda and love it. It is one of the nicest areas on Gooseberry Hill. The views are great up there. We would love to have a chat and see how you are you are getting on.
Can we arrange a chat? Wec are new to all this threading stuff!!! and have been totally fristrated up until now because we have not contatced anyone who is going through the same process. Look forward to hearing from you. P.S Our favourite Survivor couple are Boston Rob and Amber!!!

It may be colder on paper but somehow when you have been here a while it feels a whole lot colder in Perth than I ever remember in the UK (and Canada as Dorothy says, lived there for 4 years).

As for rainfall, Perth has more annual rainfall than Manchester. Don't be too quick to chuck out raincoats!

Hi Dee,

We are planning for as soon as possible but it looks like it might be later in 09.
We do not have the visa yet but have lodged it finally after sitting IELTS 3 times. It has been with Oz government for 3 months now and we expecting it to be with them some some time yet. It makes us very impatient as we have family there and are sick of the cold, winter nights already here. How do you find getting through the inbetween phase? Where in Perth are you heading? Have you been there before Dee? Are you going alone?
When are you going?

Hi Boys & Poppet,

We are leaving 7th February and heading for a place called Anketell for the first 3 weeks, then we are hoping to get a place in or around the Secret Harbour area. Me and the hubby are heading out we were taking the dog until my mum adopted him !!

We haven't been to Oz before so it will be a whole new experience for us.

I know how you feel with the 'impatient', we were very impatient through the whole process.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you and I'm sure you'll be there in no time.

Keep me posted, would be good to have some friends in new places !!

Donna.
