Re: JZ for president
I agree Hatfield. In my view, most of the important levers of power in SA are no longer connected to anything. Senior politicans can sit in Pretoria and pull as many levers as they like. But those who are further down the pyramid of political power simply don't implement what they are supposed to.
The typical response is to pass more and more laws, none of which end up making a difference.
I mean, what use is criminal law, if the police and judiciary are corrupt or ineffectual? What use is public spending, when the money never finds its way to its intended destination?
The ANC set out to make the country ungovernable. They let the genie out of the bottle. The history of the past few years shows that they are wholly unable to put that genie back in its bottle.

What can anyone do? You let the house just burn to the ground and then build a new one. At the moment it’s like putting flames out in different rooms allover the place, in the end you just have a burnt out shell. No good to anyone.

Yes indeed Tegwyn, and this too. The ANC dominated by its very worst element.

I wonder if he resigned or was 'forced' out? I can't believe it has taken this long for it to happen.

This is only stage one of this saga, and it is early days yet as to the success of making him accountable for his actions. He is still one of Mbeki's cronies and as such still yields significant influence. This mess is about to get very interesting indeed.

He was trying to circumvent the process by getting Gerrie Nel arrested on bogus charges. It was a desperate attempt to shut him down and he came damned close.
