Re: Introduce yourself before posting

I thought I'd come & say hello as I'm moving to Cape Town next month. Currently in London but fancied a change, I've been to Cape Town a couple of times on holiday & have some friends living there, I've also got some friends who lived in Jo'burg for 2 years so aware of the reality of life in SA.

I think it's best if I start another thread with my questions & keep this one just for the introductions.

Hi all - was in a rush to get my message across whilst the 1 hour clock was ticking - so this is after my first post...
I am a cruiser - normally on a boat approx 35' with 2 masts - but I sold my last one and am now land-bound for a little while - will return to sailing next year...

I am trying to sort out family business and hence my joining this forum...

Hi all,

I'd been working in/out Jo'burg over the last few months and then my company asked me to relocate fully, so I'm just moving the last of my things over from Berlin, where I live at the moment.

Hey all!

This is Clark. Came across this forum while surfing around. Seems most of the members in this section are working in Africa. Well, i dont, but my colleagues are working in Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa.

I hope to stick around and share helpful information.

Cheers!

Hi, I'm hoping someone out there will help me find my sister. She and her family emigrated to SA round about 1974/5, unfortunately I've lost contact with them and would dearly love to hear from them. So if anyone could help me trace them, I would be very happy to hear from you.:fingerscrossed:

Hi all, I am Andy and currently work in Abu Dhabi (living in Dubai). I have met a fantastic Cape Town girl and hope to settle there in the future (when the oil runs out!! - no tax is cool!). Any tips on location (girlfriend is a little biased to Gordons Bay/Strand, to buy to rent out and any 'funnies' I need to be aware of.

BW, Andy

Hi to all, Arrived in SA in April with my partner who is from SA though we met 40 years ago when worked together in UK. Glad to have made the move though many pitfalls on the way - when you arrive you are just "a tourist" unable to sort anything until you have your permit and evidence of residential address. Organised my Permit via http://www.intergate-immigration.co.za and, in the process, found that they had a Financial Services arm with no-one to advise UK ex-pats on their UK financial stuff so here I am!!!

Happy to give general guidance on any UK / SA Financial queries.

Okay Guys (Not a gender specific term). My name is Silliusmillius53 and I live in South Africa (Grahamstown to be exact). I have spent the last 38 odd years travelling around the world, but mainly in the African Continent. I have shot television news for a number of international broadcasters. I am married to a beautiful girl (We have been together for 26 years) and fortunately she won't get rid of me because I'm not worth the insurance. I love animals and I am well known for saying what I think, which sometimes doesn't make me very popular, but people know where they stand.

Hi
I am not the immigrant, but the mother of, and my son is now living and married to an Nanibian woman and they will have a baby in February..he does not have any status yet, as they just married last March, does anyone have any insights as to what one can expect.
There was one unfortunate incident whereby he overstayed his visa by two months the year before and he was in jail for 6 days, so I have great concerns as everything seems quite arbitary. Do I worry needlessly?
I like the country and its people I feel he should apply for Canadian citizenship for she and the baby...thoughts???
