Flashback to something completely off the wall. I remember my daughter hastily calming Mom when a lovely South American gentleman said something that sounded like "mooi been". Feathers ruffled and ready to protect my teenage daughter honour, I was enlightened that although sounds like the obvious "nice leg" to those that understand Afrikaans, he was actually complimenting my daughter on her Spanish communication attempts by saying "very good"! I think my confusion is justified. Being initially Welsh speaking and English second language and Afrikaans third, I believe my issues with interpreting foreign language is appropriate. For some unknown reason my daughter wanted to disown me! I was shocked and stunned, and then stunned and shocked - in that order.
