Hi there

I just wondered if anyone knew whether there are places to study for the CIMA qualification over in Perth?

My boyf is a carpenter so wants to get over to OZ asap which could mean we leave before I finish the CIMA study.

However, I want to make sure I can finish off the qualification over there. I will be at the TopCIMA level.

Any info and advice most appreciated!!!!!

Talk to the CIMA office in Australia. There is probably an exam centre there (or one could be organised) but as regards study, you'll likely just have to get the books and rely on your own resources.

CIMA is a foreign qualification in Australia, and not many Australians want to do it.

Have you got a university degree?

Once you're completed CIMA, you need to be aware it's not really recognised much in Australia. You would be best advised to do the CA Program and become an Australian Chartered Accountant (3-4 more exam papers plus work experience).

I think I will carry on with the CIMA exams and then once out in Australia I'll do the CA Program. Thankfully I'm a geek and like exams!!!

You don't say if you have a university degree (any subject) or not, but if you haven't, you'd be well advised to obtain one, as well as doing the CA.

Accounting in Australia is generally a graduate based profession.

For CIMA study (full completion) you should be able to get credit for 2 years full time equivalent, leaving only 1 year to do. Some Australian universities offer degrees by distance learning.
