CIMA to CPA or CPA to CIMA?
Dear All,
Gday!
This is my 1st post and I seek your kind understanding if I sound abit amateurish in the world of accountancy.
I hold a bachelor's of computer engineering by and have about 3 years of working experience in the field of IT in Singapore.
I have a specialist diploma in accounting and finance which grant me 2 exemptions in Certificate of Business Accounting (CIMA)
I'm currently 28yrs old and currently working as an SAP Financials consultant (ERP software)
Recently I aspire to change my career direction and aspire to be a CFO in future. At the same time, I hope to migrate to Australia due to a different pace of lifestyle.
I'm currently considering CPA Australia and CIMA qualification to be accomplished within 2-2.5 years.
Which would be a better choice to allow me to move from my IT job?
If I were to do CPA Australia, I would have to do the 8 foundation + 6 professional modules plus CIMA 3 strategy level and TOPCIMA = 18 modules.
If I were to CIMA first, I would have to study 3 foundation, 3 operation, 3 managerial, 3 strategic, 1 TOPCIMA...... I do not know what the MRA allows me to exempted for CPA Australia.
My opinion is to do the CPAA first as it opens more doors than a CIMA in australia? What is your opinion?
Thanks

Re: CIMA to CPA or CPA to CIMA?
If you see your future in Australia, usually you should do CPA first and then look for CIMA on mutual recognition.
Have you thought about Australian CA instead? And can you get an Australian immigration visa?
