Calling all Accountants in Queensland..
Can anyone recommend some areas where we should be searching for jobs, we are loving QLD and wondering if it is a good area for Managment A/cs. Dh would like to not have to work in the city and I was thinking more of the Sunshine Coast
Also, are there any large Property/Development companies based in QLD because this is dh's specialisation?
Now that we have decided on a State, we need to look at particular areas where dh mind find well paid employment, or is that too optomistic

Hi,
I live on the Gold Coast. Jobs are very easy to come by in Brisbane with a UK qualification. Contact the usual suspects - Hays, Hudson, Michael Page, Robert Walters. Also McGintys and Zelda recruitment are good there.
Decent accounting jobs are few and far between on the Sunshine Coast unless you want to work in the Profession. One of the biggest recruiters there is East Coast, but don't expect much from them as they still have the Aussie qualification is a must attitude.
The Gold Coast is alot more opened minded. Jobs are harder to come by here than in Brisbane. I contracted for six months before getting two offers last week. Hays are also on the GC. One of the ways people move to the coast is to commute to Brisbane until something comes up down here.
Also salaries are slightly lower on the coast than Brisbane. Salaries on the Sunshine coast are significantly lower. Try Seek.com.au and do an advanced search.
All the best,
Paul.

Thanks Paul
We did an extensive trawl of a few of the agencies and found the same. dh was a bit miffed about the drop in salary as senior managment a/c's seem to avaergae at around AUD80K and I think he was hoping for more than this.
But we did a spreadsheet and he is getting used to it The numbers needed to stack up! wil go and look at some of the agencies you have suggested.
Thanks again

You should get $80k in Brisbane for management acct's, but on the GC and Sunshine Coast that sort of salary is hard to come by. The only decent acct'ing salaries on the Coasts tend to be for FC's and FD's running medium sized companies.
The job I excepted is considered a good salary but it is still not as good as what I was earning in the UK, however the lifestyle more than makes up for it.
All the best with the move,
Paul.

Cheers Paul, dh is slowly accepting the lower salary fact and has plenty of time to get used to it and we are hoping/counting on the lifestyle will make it easier to accept.
Good luck in your new job and stay safe on the roads or else more women will shout at you
