- TBH, the Crap Towns guide is written by people who just like being smart. Their criteria are pretty questionable. I'm no fan of London but how it could be #1 is anyone's guess.

Anyway, comparing life to the common poorest denominator, or student towns, doesn't really help your argument, because amazingly enough, that same shit happens over here.

Except those piss heads are driving around town, killing people in accidents rather than stumbling around the streets waiting for the bus.
very mate...trying buying a 2000 sq ft house with double garage for under £650,000 or $1m in your money....good luck !

Sorry if I misunderstood, but you seem to have the impression that bread can be made without yeast.

Also, just because a bread is sourdough doesn't mean it's artisanal. RiteAid (open 24 hours, mega market) also sells it. It's artisanal because your husband makes it himself.
A real sour dough starter literally only starts with flour and water but takes wild yeast from the air. This is why a SF made starter would give a different flavour to a NY starter. Don't get me wrong at present this is purely a hobby for my husband although he does get plenty of requests for his bread and if you tasted a sour dough loaf compared to normal bread you would see a difference but each to their own. We just like to know what we are eating so only buy organic unprocessed foods. These loaves are more expensive but i think you get what you pay for in this case. Here is a link to how to see a starter: http://www.ehow.com/how_5465980_make-bread-starter.html

Anyway thanks again for your feedback and input, it's so funny how this post originally started and where it s nw, like Chinese whispers! Still very new to thus site but love it, huge distraction from daily life though so good job I'm not working!

Birmingham our second city every Thursday, Friday & Saturday night...

It not uncommon for some people to have about two pints of lager to start off, and then they would go to another club or bar, and drink themselves silly, to the point where they would have about as much as five pints of lager together with several cocktails and spirits. That is if they haven't gone the whole hog for drinking. In Birmingham Broad, Street late night is a sight almost out Dante's inferno. On the way back from the cinema I have had to negotiate vast teaming masses of people, totally inebriated out of all recognition.

this was from The Guardian .....I can vouch for this having been near Broad Street at 12 pm...avoid at all costs

Do you think teens here don't drink? They may not do it in the town center, instead it's at some bar out of the way, then they all get in their cars and drive home.
