Gun Ownership

Re: Gun Ownership
It was a cheapo arrow, so probably just plastic, not really sure what they are made from. I'm not that knowledgeable about archery. I'm just amazed that it was buried so deeply. Makes sense why we couldn't find it despite the bright orange flights.

It was probably a wood shaft. Still, was a good job getting it buried like that either way

Re: Gun Ownership
Ideally I'd like to wait until my GC comes but that could be another 10 months away looking at processing dates. I did do some extensive googling earlier and couldn't find a definitive answer annoyingly.
Also the Tanner Gun Shows here are very well priced. A new gen4 Glock (9mm) retails at around $550 at firearm retailers here where as they had a particular stall at the show selling the same gun and two extra clips for $425 and a case included. Definitely bargains to be had!

And did she say she wanted to pass a law against straw purchases? Has she ever heard of the ATF?

Re: Gun Ownership
Had a Defensive Handgun training course the weekend just gone. Was a lot of fun and informative. I found that I love the Glock 19 more than any others in that size, caliber and CCW firearm. This is why it is so important to try before you buy.
Going tonight to go buy my Glock 19 (Gen 4) in 9mm.

Re: Gun Ownership
Unfortunately not.
The place I went to had maybe 7 different handguns similar size but the CZ P10 was not one of them.
OP, if you're planning to buy a gun be prepared for a NICS delay. Spoke to the store manager today and he said he sees delays mainly with people who have non-citizenship status. Now that may not necessarily be 100% all the time but just be prepared for a possible delay. I bought my Glock 19 Friday, and NICS has only just gone through for me.

What I don't know is what happens if it comes back with a 'Do Not Proceed' after the person has left with the gun.

I was wondering this too. Perhaps they are asked nicely to return it..

Re: Gun Ownership
I've tried to find a definitive answer on this but sadly haven't been able to come up with anything.
I'm currently awaiting my adjudication of my AOS from a K1. I have my EAD and AP, and a valid Colorado drivers license expiring in 2020.
My question is: Can I legally own a gun here if I purchase it through a dealer at a gun show or even directly through a gun shop? I was told by someone at the gun show all I needed was a valid CO drivers license but I didn't trust this. I'd quite like to go hunting and clay pigeon shooting like I did back in the U.K. Hence the question.
Has anyone got experience with this?

Quite glad someone brought this up because the FBI anti-terrorist division at the moment are having a hard-on about non-immigrant aliens buying firearms and they want to ban it. The Phoenix FBI office have been going after Chinese students who own firearms on the basis that they've gotten resident hunting licenses instead of non-resident hunting licenses and using that as an excuse to seize their firearms - even though Arizona State law doesn't back up their argument. The State decides residency, not the Feds. They appear to have arm-twisted the Fish & Game Dept into not following State law properly as far as I can tell.
What they're saying is that the "must have a residence abroad they have no intention of abandoning" bit in Federal immigration law means they can't be resident in a US state which is obviously complete and utter bollocks otherwise you wouldn't be able to get a DL, pay State taxes, etc.
So the long and short of it is that when you get your hunting license, make very sure you very carefully read the State definition of what "residency" is otherwise you could have ATF agents at your door. Make sure you get a resident or non-resident license as appropriate. Or simply get an Illinois non-resident license (assuming you don't live in Illinois) as they're the cheapest.

Re: Gun Ownership
As interesting as that was...
Thank you everyone. I've found out I can do my Hunters Ed online (including a conclusion class about 10 miles away) for around $30 and that should help. I've been living in CO for 6 months as of next week so I should be set.
Would like another Browning 725 Sporting as it's what I had back home, but some of the Remington's are lovely.
