Re: Florida shooting
I don’t know why this is even being discussed. We all know **** all will be done. When the President stands up and starts waffling about mental health (even though one of his first acts was to relax the restrictions on people with mental health getting a gun) but doesn’t mention the word gun once, then you know nothing is gonna get done. Politicians will offer
Prayers and the like (big whooppee doo) but in an other couple of months, there will be another school shooting, then another and so on. I just pray to god my kids are never affected!

This country simply will not take responsibility for the culture it has created.

Re: Florida shooting
It’s beyond ****ed!!!!! They want to ban whole countries from entering because people from that country have committed terrorist acts in other countries, yet there is a school massacre every few weeks and they literally do **** all!!!!!

Re: Florida shooting
But some do, right? There is an anti-gun lobby, and according to Obama's recent tweet the majority of the country do want to do something about it. Vested interests. NRA obviously. And they can be beaten. I remember making the same point at the last massacre. The anti-NRA people need to get their act and funding together.

Re: Florida shooting
Also, this 18 school shootings is, as usual, with American statistics, highly suspect. They've included people who accidentally shot off a gun in the parking lot of a school, people who shot off a gun near a school, someone who committed suicide on the same street as a school...

Re: Florida shooting
Are you suggesting that we invite terrorists in from abroad even though we have American terrorists willing to do the work? Sounds odd to me.

Re: Florida shooting
These are not necessarily in schools, so I suppose they don't count. No big deal, people should really stop complaining.
"Thousands of children are shot each year in the United States, and many of them die of their injuries, according to a comprehensive new study of gun violence published in the journal Pediatrics.
The study, conducted by statisticians at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the University of Texas, found that roughly 7,100 children under the age of 18 were shot each year from 2012 to 2014. An average of 1,300 died of their injuries in a typical year.
That works out to 19 children shot every single day in the course of a year — or 3.5 children killed by guns every single day.
They're staggering numbers, as the authors point out. “Firearm-related deaths are the third leading cause of death overall among US children aged 1 to 17 years,” they write, “surpassing the number of deaths from pediatric congenital anomalies, heart disease, influenza and/or pneumonia, chronic lower respiratory disease, and cerebrovascular causes.”"
