Default The American Dream

We bought ourselves a ride-on lawn mower today, after our old second-hand push mower crapped out on us this morning.

Living the American dream, people. Living the dream...

We bought this house Aug 98 and bought one straightaway...they had been reduced for the end of the summer. Cost approx $1K...we have around 3 acres but a good half is woodland...so it's paid for itself many times over. Hubby has bought numerous spare parts and repaired it himself over the years. A few weeks ago we gave it to the guy who was doing some decorating for us. He'd always wanted one and to say he was proper chuffed would be an understatement.

Enjoy your ride-on.

Nice!

We moved from a small apartment to our house on a half-acre lot four years ago, and of course we didn't have any gardening equipment. Some friends of ours were moving from their Milwaukee house to a small Seattle apartment around the same time, so for $50 gave us EVERYTHING in their garage, including a tiny push-along gas mower. It has been a wonderful little thing and only needed a few minor tweaks over the years, but when we tried it this morning for the first time this mowing season, we discovered it had passed away. RIP tiny mower.

But now we have a shiny new toy! John Deere, 42" blade, 17.5 HP for about $1,499. Perfect for our medium-sized yard, AND because we used some cash back from Discover Card, we got free delivery and around $200 off the asking price. Bought it from Lowe's. It arrives sometime this week and now the other half and I are arguing over who gets to use it first...

I don't have a lawn big enough for a ride on mower, but I do have an electric garage door opener, which I think is living the Dream.

After not having a dishwasher in our old house in the UK, that's all I wanted when we got back!

My parents have one of those back in the UK and they are great fun, especially after a few beers. I wish they had to so we could do races.

Oh my God, I would LOVE that. I might have to convince Mr. Gingerert that we need two now...

Simply sabotage the first one's deck belt so he buys a replacement, then miraculously fix the first and you're away.
