My employer (Saudi company) told us today that if any of the embassies except the Americans start evacuating people they will evacuate us. We will get a choice of bringing our families to Saudi or sending them to the UK at the company's expense. They actually said they would prefer to send them to UK as that would be less costly for them since they will be footing the bill for accommodation in Saudi.
I don't want to live in Saudi again....

What ethnicity are the majority of Bahraini Shia? If they are Arab, it is surprising that the Sunni Arabs would give soo many Pakistanis and other non Arabs citizenship just to undermine the Shia.

Re: Day Of Rage In Bahrain Demonstration
Just had an update from Bahrain Rugby Club and they have had a booze delivery. Word was it was getting very desperate and they nearly ran out of draught beer.
From the people i have spoken to the bad stuff seems to be based in the one place but people are quite tense.
Mike
PS that was a real update from the Rugby Club if anyone is thirsty.

Looks like things have calmed down...Manama seems normal..I would say they'll let the people stay at Pearl till they get tired and go home..I'm sure the the U.S and U.K had a chat with the powers to be..This is the best chance they have for regime change in Iran..let it flow and don't ***** it up by making us look like the hypocrites that we are

Definitely quiet on the streets. Just back from a walk to Pearl roundabout. All very jolly and carnival like. People shaking hands with the police believe it or not. Would go now if you want to visit
Salmaniya is quiet, came back through Jidd Haffs and that was quiet.
Like the Rugby club I have stocked up on beer so ready for another week of unrest

Anyone know how things are in Khobar, I have the Tricast coming up next week and have two days in Khobar end of next week. Don't fancy being chained to a Radiator on al Jazeera if I can help it.
All the searches i have done have come up ok just double checking.

Quiet before the storm me thinks

Re: Day Of Rage In Bahrain Demonstration
Spoken with a number of guys this morning and all reported that the known hotspots have all been deserted. Very strange but does indicate that there is a controlling influence over the actions on the streets as opposed to the random acts of violence as witnessed regularly in Jid Haffs as we assumed.

If this is the case, then is it your opinion that the Bahraini government have been doing the right thing by jailing people (in some countries they would even be called traitors) or is it still the general opinion that the government has been breaking basic human rights. I'm not commenting on the things that have happened in the last week or so by the way. Firing on protesters etc can never be condoned.
I'm not saying one way or the other, but what's coming to light now is certainly putting things into perspective. It is definitely not as clear cut as how it is sometimes described in the media...Not that the media is interested in giving the full picture anyway!

To be honest Norsk I am not jumping on the freedom fighter bandwagon that I am hearing a lot now.
A civilized society means one with law and order and the Shia's have been kicking the arse out of this for their long term agenda since the early 70's by all account.
So was it right to lock people who burned schools and transformers? Yes it was and long may it continue.
Was it right to fire upon demonstrators ? Well does anyone think they would have listened to reasoned argument ? Would it have been better to use water cannons ? Yes it would have been especially the ones with coloured dyes so the police can pick em up afterwards.
The UK should get down off its high horse as well. I can remember the dock strikes, the coal strike and recently the idle ****** students in London all of whom have been on the end of teargas and batons. The English arent as innocent as they make out from their preaching. And lets not even consider the mither across the water with the Irish
Self induced rant over
