New Zealand Forum R.I.P!

Have been catching up on the forum as I havent been on recently, as I have been getting on with my new life in NZ. Every thread seem to turn into childish squabble. Shame really especially as my good lady wife (DiffordA) has had the pleasure of meeting some of you lovely people in person.
I think I will think twice about posting in the future, as life's too short to argue the toss with people over different opinions.
Shame.

I think I know what you want. A return to "everything in NZ is amazing!!"

Ok sorry worded it wrong. I mean when people post their opinions and they are slated. Just a really unfriendly place to chat on. I am all for opinions and speaking your mind but it seems to have gone to the extreme here. Obviously I am enjoying NZ POSITIVES and NEGATIVES and thats it, just getting on with life.

Can everyone remember that NZ is a young country with a small population.
Due to this it will be expensive for certain things, it will be boring for those indoor sort of people and it won't be the expection that some are hoping it will be. I laugh when I hear people comparing NZ to England because we actually are living in NZ not England.
I lived in England for 14 years so could start whinging about how that country is going downhill but I don't think any petty squabbling like 8 year olds will achieve anything.
What I do is give out useful information where required and may have a bit of banter with the members I personally know. I don't have running arguements with complete strangers.
As has been said everyone has the right to an opinion which I agree with but to continue with that and delibratley upset others does sound childish.
Its funny that when I have talked to other expats who live here and also those who don't know this website exists go on how great this country is and they are not just English. So I wonder if there is anyone on this forum who lives in NZ (not lived) and dislikes it here and if so what plans are they making to leave or change.
Cheers
Dirk

Life, people, is what you make it. I would imagine you knew about damp houses before you arrived as you would have read these forums, no point moaning about it now!! If you were skint & miserable in the UK thats unlikely to change hey?!
I am lucky, i love NZ & my new life, andit has thrown some dog doo at me, but its made me stronger, better & wiser.
If it doesnt work, thats fine, but don't make it everyone else's problem please.

If it works, that's fine, but don't keep gloating about it please??
(a problem shared.....etc)
This forum could (should??) just be a question and answer forum where people give advice. But if people are allowed to give their 'happy' testimonials then surely others are allowed to give the counterpoint. As long as we all behave nicely. But it's ironic that the some of the 'positive' posters are very quick to drag things down to the level of name calling and personal abuse when they read posts that they don't like from posters that they should 'ignore'!
Group hugs all round!!

[QUOTE=Avid;4731358]But isn't the opposite true.....

Sharing a story of success and happiness I wouldn't consider as gloating....many people dream of coming to NZ and many of us achieve it, I personally love to read peoples success stories and look at the photos they want to share of their houses etc... I really don't see that as gloating and can say in all honesty all the best to them...don't remember who it was but it was fairly recent someone put a link on to the house they had just bought and I thought WOW you lucky sods...and it was nice to read their story. If people want to share their successes and others choose to read it great stuff...it does help people when they are trying to get over here.
