Rae you big DICK! What the F**K are you doing?!?!?! I guarantee within 15 minutes of hitting the UK soil you will be craving to get back here - I know there are things that p*ss you off here, but trust me they aren't half as bad as back in that sh*thole! Think boy racers, think Chavs, think smack heads on every corner, think booze britain, think miserable people everywhere, think grey skies, think Post Offices that stink of p*ss, think of dole scum, think of chewing gum over every pavement, think of paying 50k GBP for the car you have now, think of 1 quid a litre, think of all the wan**r Inspector and above who couldn't lick your boots, think of every little thing that you told me you left for!
Apologies to everyone who reads this but sometimes Rae only understands things that are spelt out bluntly!
Call me I'll take you for a beer to talk some bloody sense into you!

Oye. There will be NO embarrasing videos of me, crying and praying for air during the PARE posted on here chaps
I passed under the old style of fitness here (back in 1997) and am about the same fitness now, but am working on increasing that!
I just hope that my efforts are not in vain, as the cost of flying out there alone are substantial.
Oh, any nice hotels in Downtown? I've seen a few and the cyclindrical looking tower hotel (can't recall the name) apears nice, as I won't be hiring a car, as it stands now

Quick question regarding the written APT test. I have just whizzed through a practice exam on policeprep.com and scored 82.5%. This was only using 10 mins to memorise the information and then rushing through the other questions as I was getting bored!
Is there a pass mark for the tests? Policeprep says that most police agencies don't publish their pass levels but if you are scoring over 70% in the practice tests you should be fine.
Can anyone confirm if there is a published pass mark for EPS or do they not disclose it?
Tim

Just wondering...
If you're succesful with either Edmonton/Calgary, do you take up 'work' ie, start your training, on a work permit? - and then wait 6 months to apply for PR via the province's sponsorship? i take thats just the normal way right?
Thanks.

No - both forces wait till you have got PR - they cannot swear you in as an officer unless you are a permanent resident (or a citizen). And the swearing in is done at the beginning of training, not once you have finished training.
Basically, the provincial nomination will expedite the PR bit - but the police forces still cannot get around the legal requirement to be a permanent resident or a citizen - at this time, you cannot be a police officer on a work permit.

Hi all,
In Edmonton at the moment, day 1 of tests complete! ACT/APCAT out of the way and passed.
For those of you coming out for the tests, it is worth investing in Policeprep.com or similar. The tests were harder than I expected and harder than those on policeprep.com.
On saying that, they helped me pass!
Onwards to PARE on monday!!

i have the utmost confidence that you will pass it. then throw up.
don't worry, i know its first thing, i'm on nights so won't be there. make sure on a serious note you get the others there to cheer everyone on, they like that sort of thing, and every bit of help counts.
i'm on at 1900hrs tonight, if you fancy a quick brew, send me a message on here, i'll drive over. if not all the best for tomorrow. rae.

Passed PARE by some miracle, not the best time in the world, but enough!
Managed not to throw up either! lol
The PARE is the hardest thing I've ever done, bar none!
On to PDI tomorrow.

Sorry to hijack your run of good fortune Nige (all the best by the way) but do any EPS folk know how long the International recruitment campaign is likely to last?
I very much want to get an application submitted, but will have 25yrs service come Sept 2011. It would hit my pension if I were to make the move prior to that. Dilemna.
