Sorry everyone, I am going out on 7th May..NOT April..lol..Why do I keep writing stupid mistakes on here..and Nige keeps catching me out ha ha..Well done Nige, great observation! (Its all the pressure I am under, work, studying, the wife to be etc lol..) Any excuse.she will kill me when she reads this..ha ha.

I hope it does not stop snowing by then..I love it..Stewie, be great to meet up with you in May if your free?

I have only done 1 test on the Police prep Nige, not doing too well with the Algebra....so working on that..I hear the actual tests are alot harder than Policeprep examples..

Hi,

I have seen your threads so far and I was wondering how far along you are in the process and if you have been given any kind of starting date?
My partner and I are both Police in the UK and are in the last stages now (paid the last immigration fees)..... so far it's taken 2.5 years.
Please contact me if you would like to chat about the big move.

Hi,

I am only at the assessment stage..I fly out on 7th May to sit everything..so will be a year or so before we move out there..fingers crossed anyway...

Why has it taken you guys so long to get out there? You not gone through the PNP? Why you paid the fees? How much they cost you? (If you dont mind me asking).

Any tips about the assessment would be mostly appreciated...

Feel free to PM me or give me a call if you want to speak..

I will send you all of the info about the assessments over the next few days. You will have a ball when you go over there as the weather in May will be great. The latest fee was $500.00 and that was for the first part of the immigration fee. Then there is the immigration medical (different to the Police one) and I think that's about another £250.00 or so as there is blood work that has to be couriered etc. I think the last fee is also about $500.00 also. I think that they can all be claimed back from EPS though??? Regards

Hi mate

Good to catch up and see how the trip recent trip went for you.I have a few questions when you get time.

Ive just got back my IQAS documents which took 10 weeks exactly.

For info of anyone waiting for the IQAS to return:

My qualifications were O Levels/CSE and a business management A level equivalent.I received a bland certificate stating my qualifications were of a similar standard to Level 12 for Canada.Anything of a similar UK standard will be fine.

Diggler-I will email soon mate and ankle OP for me next wednesday so my application will be in around July-ish.

I bet you are not as confident with Man Utd as three weeks ago.LFC are coming for you.

Speak soon

Tawny

Ah yes, the IQAS, What a load of bollox. You would think with all the UK applicants, that EPS would, by now have some sort of reference chart - ie, that UK qualification is the equivilant to that in Canada etc...... Perhaps its just me ?

Anyway, dont you worry about United. We are just making it interesting. It was getting a bit boring.....

some info that may be of interest for those with 'wobbles'

ACPO recently issued guidelines with regard to the applications of non uk residents, those with less than 3 full years living in the UK. This appeared at first hand to be legitimate recruiting guidelines for applications from foreign nationals. However, following a recent application/enquiry to several different forces in the UK, it appears the forces/ACPO are using it to punish those who have left and make it clear to those thinking of leaving they cannot come back.

replies from the ACPO head of recruiting state that the adoption of the recommendations in this manner is perfectly acceptable. It matters not that you have lived in the UK all your life and have served your force for a considerable period of time. The limit is 2 weeks, once you have left for that amount of time you must return and live in the UK for 3yrs before you can apply to rejoin.

something to bare in mind should anyone be thinking of giving it a try then coming back if it does not work.

TAWNY - Best wishes With the OP.

Just sent my UPDATED PDF as i submitted the old one with the application form.

Training harder than ever at the moment and looking forward to the invite over there.
Debating at the moment whether to bring my pregnant partner and 6 year old Boy or a single trip (our baby is due in August)

is it correct that the period for recruitment/immigration is 2 years plus!?!?

Gutted for METDC, but wishes to SteveandLisa for their next stages and all the others who apply for this exceptional, life changing opportunity

Hi mate, no i think that they may have gone through the visa process on their own, which takes a long time and costs pennies... From speaking to EPS recruitment personally when i went over in Oct, because they sponsor you so to speak, you don't pay (as far as i know!) and the process takes about 10 - 12 months from being offeres a job...

Good luck with the baby, I've just had to put my app on hold due to us expecting our first baby in Sept..

Hope this helps
Dom..

You will still be responsible for your immigration and medical fees which, depending on how many in the family, can be several thousand dollars. Is this what you mean?

Edmonton do the whole 'relocation' bonus after appointment though which surely helps soften the blow

Could be anne, I'm no expert.. you probably have more of an idea than me, so i'll be guided by your experience... I just thought it was how i said..? Maybe a touch of naivety on my part eh? But do EPS etc still pay for the Visa's etc?..

Hi Dom

I just took this off the CIC (PNP) page :

"6. Calculate your fees.

You will have to pay the following fees:

The processing fee for you and your dependants must be paid when you apply. It is not refundable, even if your application is not approved.
Wait until your application is processed to pay the Right of Permanent Residence fee for you and your accompanying spouse or common-law partner, if applicable. It must be paid before Citizenship and Immigration Canada issues your permanent resident visa. This fee is refundable if you cancel your application, if your application is not approved, or if you do not use your visa.
You will also have to pay fees to third parties for:

your medical examination
a police certificate, if you require one as part of your criminal and security check, and
language testing, as required.

Information on how to pay your processing fee and your Right of Permanent Residence fee is included in the instructions for the visa office where you submit your application."

Edmonton Police will offer you the PNP place and set the ball rolling - but you get to pay for it all

It's $550 for the applicant, $550 for their partner and $150 for each child under 22. And I'm sure there will be a few other things thrown in for good measure like an admin fee of $75 maybe.

Hope that helps (or not, as the case may be!)
