"Auckland versus the rest of NZ"

Why are you trying to create a north south divide in my country like you have back in the UK ?

Sqooooze me , but this Auckland v rest of New Zealand is a New Zealand thing created by New Zealanders.

This thread was started by the OP because they were curious as to why there was such a thing. Rather similar to your own Why do Poms come to NZS thread.

Many of our Kiwi friends here are extremely derogatory of Auckland and see it as sucking resources from the South Island. Maybe that is one of the reasons New Zealanders have this perception of Auckland v Rest of NZ.

Incidentally Dandy Dan, for many of us NZ is OUR country too. We can claim both a country of origin and a country of residence.

Ok Dan. Enough is enough. The reason that some are agitated is because posters like you enjoy making posts that will 'ruffle feathers' and - guess what - agitate.

Please post in the spirit of the forum.

Is it at this point were i have to grab my ankles and get ready to be banished of the site like others such as Colin in the middle, for speaking my mind and asking questions, only to have some stuck up git like NiseysOH and Lardyl talk down to me like they do to everybody else.

Do they get a public warning for there attitude towards others and for inciting arguments, or for there continuous put downs, no or not that i've seen

I apologize if i have upset some of the more delicate people on the thread that wasn't my intention

And this is exactly the point. We tend to live where we can get work. I'm based in Wellington but at one point was thinking of moving to Auckland for work reasons, luckly that didn't happen

You have to remember that a lot of the kiwi attitude towards Auckland is tounge in cheek, though the attitude towards Australian's is for real.
If people are happy in Auckland than why do we disagree with them. It was their choice and in the end it will be their choice whether they like it or not.

As you say - not that you have seen, as NiseyOH will no doubt confirm.

Good on you for the apology. Those users that object aren't necessarily delicate . They just don't want all threads bunged up with crud. They also want to feel able to post to a thread without being trounced by the spate brigade.

Spates on threads spoil the forum for everyone else. Go ahead and make your points & raise your issues. Just be mindful of all the other users that use this forum. This applies to everyone.

C I T M was banned for multiple log-ins, not for the content of his posts as 'Colin' , although he walked a fine line due to the tone of his posts.

Bev, it can't have been CITM yesterday as he was up the mountain on a rescue with the fire service most of yesterday when all these posts were going on!

I'm aware of the explanation. However, the banning happened from Admin and not from me. I banned the troll & alter egos.
The matter rests with admin.

Just to clarify, Colin in the Middle was banned due to multiple usernames, (which we have server logs to prove). As to the other, we welcome differences of opinion and experiences. Discussing issues that we disagree on is fine, but its how those posts are worded. What we ask is that the discussions do not resort to name calling and personal attacks.

I think under the circumstances it would be better to close this particular thread, but please anyone feel free to start a fresh one if you wish to continue discussing the topic.

Sue
