This is part of the rule change that took effect I'm November, sponsors have to have held PR for at least 5 years before they can become sponsors themselves.

"The sponsored spouse or partner may have accompanying family members or may, after being granted permanent residence, in turn sponsor members of the family class; however, the sponsored spouse or partner is barred from sponsoring a new spouse or partner for a period of five years, see OB 386 – Five-year Sponsorship bar for persons who were sponsored to come to Canada as a spouse or partner."

I believe it took affect this time last year rather than November.

Wes might need to check if it affects his/partners applications.

AH right - I couldn't remember when it came into effect, but I know it was at some point last year.

I do know that the new requirement only applies to new applications - applications that were submitted after that date. Existing applications are subject to the old rules, which didn't have a requirement for length of PR.

Anyone finding the London email address is bouncing? A week ago they told me 'Please be advised that we have requested a medical extension to your file. Please contact us again in one week and we will advise you of your new medical validity date.'

I tried to reply today but it just keeps bouncing.

EDIT: Did an enquiry through the website, also got an email saying this had bounced...

PS. Day 300 today for me WOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :fi ngerscrossed:

Hey there...as anyone got an email after enquiring about an application saying:Your file is currently under review with an Immigration Officer. We will be in contact as soon as there have been further developments with the processing of your file.
I am not in process on ecas..but can it still mean that they are looking at my application?

Also on the subject of ecas, I'm aware it's a unreliable but it's inevitable that I will develop an addiction to it. When logging in, do you use the surname of the sponsor or the principal applicant? I would assume the latter?

I can't log in using my details. Only those of my sponsor.

Re-read this, my partner has been PR for 3 years but came as part of family sponsorship, she was not sponsored as a spouse or partner, thefore there should be no problem?
