In the UK, I'd fret about the extra insurance cost for the GT or RS version of a car. Here not so much. The Ferrari would likely be cheaper to insure, at least in Ontario, than a domestic as it would...

BC doesn't have the most expensive insurance, the territories have way higher rates, and it's not because there's a monopoly, Saskatchewan has government insurance and low rates.

The insurance company will want to see an official document, the £7.50 approach provides that, I'm not sure that browsing a record online does.

Cooperators sell policies based on their claims service rather than on price so I would expect them to look after their customers. I'm surprised at the premium though, good for you.

This isn't quite how it works in Canada or, always, in the UK. In the UK my cars were always insured for "any driver" which made sense because I had the highest rating anyone could so the marginal...
