Re: Housing 'bubble' in Vancouver

Be it Ireland or UK, you can make a living if you go to the right areas. You'd even find affordable housing in the South of England, especially compared to Canada. As mentioned, no health system is...

Re: Housing 'bubble' in Vancouver

Moved back to Ireland 3 years ago and must say that it's a great country and really improving. You can argue about the health system anywhere and no place offers free health care. In the UK or...

Re: Housing 'bubble' in Vancouver

You mentioned the high health care costs in the US and since the UK is possible, I would really look into it. You have many options with England, Scotland, Wales, N Ireland. Although health insurance...

Re: Housing 'bubble' in Vancouver

I thought it was mentioned that his wife had connections to the UK, but maybe I'm wrong. I still think that it would be possible to find somewhere in the US where housing is affordable and surviving...

Re: Housing 'bubble' in Vancouver

What sum are we talking about for a move? The flights might be expensive, but a lot of the time you can actually fund a move by selling stuff you have. I know people who have moved with just a...

Re: Housing 'bubble' in Vancouver

The key is to buy when prices are cheap and in an area that's generally affordable, then you wouldn't be bothered what job you do. I'm also doing admin stuff and it probably won't be exciting for...

Re: Housing 'bubble' in Vancouver

I wouldn't say that and an income of 40-60K is pretty decent in my opinion. The problem I see is that there are too many people who studied and think they deserve a better job, just because they...

Re: Housing 'bubble' in Vancouver

I just think you have to move away, otherwise nothing will change. As mentioned before, the UK might be an option for you. The great thing now is that you know what you want and that seems to be a...

Re: Housing 'bubble' in Vancouver

But there is Lizard Point:sarcasm: and actually even the UK has 3 types of lizards (apart from Cameron).

Re: Housing 'bubble' in Vancouver

Not UK, but in my area something like this could be bought with lake access for under 150K and not too far from city. With a bit of work could also be nice.

3 bedroom Bungalow For Sale,...

Re: Housing 'bubble' in Vancouver

There are many nice places, but Australia is also pricey when it comes to real estate. Personally I could live anywhere, as long as I don't have to live in a small apartment, because I need outdoor...

Re: Housing 'bubble' in Vancouver

If you want to own a house with garden, why don't you look elsewhere (abroad)? I know many people are stuck on one location/one job, but what's the point if it doesn't really make you happy?

Re: Housing 'bubble' in Vancouver

Well if you think that you spend most of your life at work and at home, I don't find it that weird. It certainly makes sense to buy if your mortgage is lower than rent and it's also quality of life....

Re: Housing 'bubble' in Vancouver

It's just a matter of time and I know many people who are leaving Canada again. It was the same here in Ireland and the recession was the best thing that could happen. If a country can't compete due...
