Sure, but Gemalto evidently wasn't found wanting in those areas as well as underbidding De La Rue by £120 million. They also have facilities in the UK so the passport books may very well end up being...

The UK didn't decide to tender abroad; only to put the contract out to tender. EU rules mean that HMG cannot discriminate against foreign bidders. The lowest bidder won.

That's not correct. France and Germany do not tender out the process to private companies - the passports are printed in-house by their respective governments. The UK used to do this until the...

Or deliberately underbid. Or De La Rue assumed it had it in the bag. It will be interesting to see whether this actually goes through or whether HMG will try and fiddle it.

Either side can guarantee rights unilaterally. Mrs May wanted a reciprocal deal but that was rejected as the EU...
