Re: Visit NSW school before enrolling - mission impossible

It's not an insult but an observation. You don't agree that you are intolerant to anyone with a contrary view to yours, or perhaps you think that your opinion is right and all others' are wrong? At...

Re: Visit NSW school before enrolling - mission impossible

'A person who is intolerant to those with a different view'. You meet the criteria for a bigot - just what you said above qualifies. End of another thread which reaches an impasse.

Re: Visit NSW school before enrolling - mission impossible

Last statement a topper - shows as NIESR said that privately educated persons have a tendency to be unable to empathise with the majority of people. Your reaction to an argument for less inequality...

Re: Visit NSW school before enrolling - mission impossible

Tiresome. You aren't a teacher but you are an expert on education. A 'gun reader' would notice it was my wife and not a friend who worked in the system and that I did voluntary work for them...

Re: Visit NSW school before enrolling - mission impossible

I said give the researchers credit for knowing how to phrase questions and do a sample; you read what I said differently to suit your agenda. Quote where I said otherwise than it was a...

Re: Visit NSW school before enrolling - mission impossible

I never read on beyond 'everyone knows'.

Your posts continually show time after time what the research found. Q.E.D.

You read the survey questions of course or 'everyone knows' what they...

Re: Visit NSW school before enrolling - mission impossible

Until a national vote involving all is taken on attitudes you won't believe the results of research conducted by an independent body used by the government because you don't like the results? ...

Re: Visit NSW school before enrolling - mission impossible

As the research said, no understanding of the way the majority of people think.

Do you have any knowledge of the state system?

The contact I've had is far from sparse or non-existent you...

Re: Visit NSW school before enrolling - mission impossible

It is research into attitudes and don't shoot the messenger but this is what they found about the attitudes of those who had private schooling vs those who had state schooling. Why do you say it's...

Re: Visit NSW school before enrolling - mission impossible

I could have entered into the private system (via a scholarship) but my parents and me didn't want to go down that route. You won't understand why so I won't explain.

I keep telling you I don't...

Re: Visit NSW school before enrolling - mission impossible

As often happens you only see 2 alternatives (e.g. right or left), current level of funding and no funding at all. Less funding from government from private schools redirected to the majority and...

Re: Visit NSW school before enrolling - mission impossible

I haven't 'written off' the private school system and said it is a waste of money; it has its advantages for those who can afford it and horses for courses. What I do take exception to is government...

Re: Visit NSW school before enrolling - mission impossible

Why I'm repeating is that you view the initial question in too narrow terms as I tried to explain what should be involved in choice of education. It's not like spending $25K on a widget or investing...

Re: off-topic from nsw-schooling-thread

I presume you are trying to be ironic and tongue in cheek with that post?

Universities mostly work on entrance scores; you don't just 'pick' a top notch university and then spend your dosh.

Re: Visit NSW school before enrolling - mission impossible

The original question and why this arose is how a parent would decide whether to send their child/children to state or private school and if the latter whether it was worth the (say) $25K p.a....
