Re: IS IT REALLY THAT BAD OUT THERE NOW THEN

Re: IS IT REALLY THAT BAD OUT THERE NOW THEN

$2 bread is the white economy stuff that would cost about 40p back home - it's the unpleasant stuff I'd never even looked at in the UK.
There isn't a conspiracy going on to deter immigrants.30k in...

Re: IS IT REALLY THAT BAD OUT THERE NOW THEN

Have you looked at the peripheral things like buying a car, dentists, medical fees, school books, Internet, phones etc... Dentists are a shocker. Cars are a big expense too. If you are working on a...

Re: IS IT REALLY THAT BAD OUT THERE NOW THEN

I transferred some cash at 2.6 but not enough. Still spending at 1.5 and unable to find work other than the stuff I used to do for pocket money when I was a Uni student. That means 4 quid for a...

Re: IS IT REALLY THAT BAD OUT THERE NOW THEN

It's different for those of you who transferred their savings around 2.5, used them and a new job to purchase a house, car and start again. For those coming sub the pound's fall through 2 it means...

Re: IS IT REALLY THAT BAD OUT THERE NOW THEN

A schooner's alot smaller than a pint. Seriously, these threads aren't made up from nothing. It's expensive here and the work situation for many is very difficult. Plus when you consider your UK...

Re: IS IT REALLY THAT BAD OUT THERE NOW THENbc

Getting everything from M&S is nostalgic. A little like when my mum bought long lasting quality
from 'mark's' that had good hems that could be taken in and let out. No point having a decent...

Re: IS IT REALLY THAT BAD OUT THERE NOW THEN

Me too! Just ordered 300 quid worth of M&S goodies. Just a shame they don't send food and wine over here. Can't remember when I last bought anything other than food in Oz... All the Aussies we know...

Re: IS IT REALLY THAT BAD OUT THERE NOW THEN

There hasn't been any issues to date and I've always given an Australian address.

The provision of health care on a private system just has to be significantly worse than a national one. The sheer...

Re: IS IT REALLY THAT BAD OUT THERE NOW THEN

Yes, I did understand it. In our cases - with the cost of dentists and medical bills we pay way over it here and earn very little. When we go home once a year we get everything we possibly can done...

Re: IS IT REALLY THAT BAD OUT THERE NOW THEN

There isn't a comparison vis a vis medical/family planning/dentistry. It's expensive here on any exchange rate and even if Jupiter is in alignment with Pluto.

Re: IS IT REALLY THAT BAD OUT THERE NOW THEN

I can almost smell the greasy cafe on that undercover walk way up to London Bridge... yuck. The amount of times the stench of hot lard almost unleashed my own pavement pizza when staggering up there...

Re: IS IT REALLY THAT BAD OUT THERE NOW THEN

Medical bills are expensive even with the medicare card. My partners needs a cpap machine - $2000 (UK free for exact same machine), his prescription and mine $60 per month - Uk 12 quid. Renewed my...

Re: IS IT REALLY THAT BAD OUT THERE NOW THEN

I used to be able to guage how far I had to go on my walk into work from Clerkenwell to London Bridge by the vomit stains, urine puddles, and the position of the drug addicts in the subways. Too...

Re: IS IT REALLY THAT BAD OUT THERE NOW THEN

That's the problem with the 'want to be in Oz' gang. They comment that the UK is 'going down the pan' but don't realise it's taken their spending power with it.....

Re: IS IT REALLY THAT BAD OUT THERE NOW THEN

Vegetarian food is a bit exy and the variety a touch limited. We're hardly going to starve so its not worth bitching about really - but I do miss the odd Linda McCartney treat.

Tried to visit a...
