Re: Winter 2016-17

A bit of a result yesterday.

The divider between my driveway is about five feet wide. That is not much to put snow on so the pile gets quite high. The divider has a fire hydrant on it. I'm...

Re: Winter 2016-17

Re: Winter 2016-17

It's -31 here (and feels like -39). The recycling truck still showed up on time. It always does and so does the garbage truck. Nothing stops them, ever.

Re: Winter 2016-17

But is it a dry damp? That makes all the difference.

Re: Winter 2016-17

Not 70cm in one go!

I meant the total so far (although we've had 10+ four times already this year).

I think the 50cm we had in one dump last February was the local record.

I still remember...

Re: Winter 2016-17

I feel for you. We've already had over 70cm of the crap and the numbers I'm looking at today are not pretty. Minus lots and FFS! windchill.

I have been forced to haul my domestic swill in from the...

Re: Winter 2016-17

You poor little darling.:sarcasm:

I've already had about a month of that and I have several more to come (and they will be colder).

Re: Winter 2016-17

Quite.

I can see the conversation coming.

"Blow the driveway so I can get my car out."

"Move the bloody car so I can get the blower out of the garage."

Re: Winter 2016-17

Thank you for the vote of confidence.

Wind direction will not be a problem. The prevailing wind here (always) is favourable to where I will be blowing the snow.

Re: Winter 2016-17

24"

We looked at wider ones but we are limited on width in places.

I like the fact that it has forward and reverse gears and all the controls are on the main console, so you don't have to bend...

Re: Winter 2016-17

Ta. The blower is Craftsman. We went for that because Sears is good at spare parts.

I can see endless possibilities for self-harm with my new toy.

Re: Winter 2016-17

Ah. Thanks. What is TSC?

As for oil, I guess I won't know until the thing arrives and hopefully has a manual. I would imagine that 208cc dual phase engines use the same oil but I'm not mechanical...

Re: Winter 2016-17

I'm new to all this. What is a shearbolt? Are they all the same?

Also, oil. I don't imagine that the blower will come with oil. What do I tell the missus to buy?

Re: Winter 2016-17

Oh bollocks!

I'm going to have to shovel that crap later. And the plough just left a replica of the Rockies at the bottom of my driveway:ohmy:

Wednesday can't come too soon. That's when my snow...

Re: Winter 2016-17

Same here. We had a squall (ie whiteout) yesterday and it's damn cold this morning (not as cold as the flat bits but who cares).

Very icy this morning. I have to go to the corner store later. It...

Re: Winter 2016-17

Wimps.

We had double their snowfall yesterday and there were only 95 reported collisions by teatime.

<prays for Sears to get a move on and deliver the snow blower>
