Re: Fitness equipment -Tavira
masterjoiner I do body-building as a hobby but at the moment I live in Madeira so cannot advise you on Tavira. However before you spend money on equipment may I suggest that you first try to get your body a bit trimmer by simple cardio and a change of diet. And then try the local gym as suggested.
1. Cardio can be "power-walking" which is say 20 minutes at a fast walk, not a jog, then slow for 2 - 3 minutes then back up to speed again. It takes the first 20 minutes before the body starts burning the fat.
2. Change of diet. I lost 4 stones, 2 years ago doing this, down from 19 to 15. It was recommended by my gym instructor. You won't go hungry. Reduce the carb intake and increase the protein, e.g. tuna. red meat, oily fish, eggs, Don't eat any carbs after 3pm or so as the body doesn't have time to use them and stores them as fat during sleep.
If you wish I can PM or email you the diet.
Good luck
