and will continue to be in Oman, if you don't act like a tit
dress smartly (chinos, blue shirt, tie even better) for all government, ministry and police interactions, and you will find you get pushed to the head of the queue for a lot more things than you would expect
the residency ID one can be particularly embarrassing..... (you get pushed to the head of the queue ahead of 200 sweating Indians/Sri Lankans etc to collect your card. you are grateful for the special treatment, but prob also feel a bit yucky that you have taken advantage of it, because, let's face it, who wants to wait behind 200 unwashed sweating workers?)

Think about how it feels if you're behind these workers going through security & the xray machine twice (sometimes more) a day. Especially when they take their steel toecapped boots off <gag>
