Just to let you know how quick the arrival of my visa was.
I have it in my hand. They approved it monday and delivered it friday (of the same week).
I will be flying next week! Woop woop!!

Got my interview in a few weeks time! Not flying till 1st september though, need to sort out finances a little more before i go! Been doing this for 2.5 years, 8 weeks aint going to make much difference!

Well the visa hasn't taken that long, but we have been living apart going back and forth for that long! Really can't wait for it to be over with! I actually applied for a job this week in Chicago so you never know if I get that I'll be leaving earlier!!

I just wanted to share with you guys who havn't yet finished the process that the embassy never did apply to social security for a number for me.
Your best option is to look up your nearest office when you get to the states and apply for it yourself.
All they require is your passport and they also took my british drivers licence (they photocopied them both). I waited about 10-15mins to be seen and it only took about 10mins once at the window.
You should then receive your number in about 10 days. But can take up to 4 weeks I was told.
Just thought this might help with the getting a social issue =)
