Re: Differences between Canadian and British people
I've only been living in Canada for a few weeks but have come to the conclusion that UK TV and Supermarkets are superior - more 'things' than 'people' but what the heck, I'm putting it on here anyway

Canada is pretty rubbish when it comes to celebrity sex offenders, I can hardly think of any.

I found in one Canadian supermarket the apples seemed to have been sprayed with wax, polished/buffed beyond recognition and put under a 5,000 watt white bulb. Bit off-putting

In a lot of ways living in Canada right now is like living in Britain in the 70s. The lack of variety in the big food stores is very disappointing, compounded by the fact that Canucks like their food bland. Same ole tasteless crap everywhere.

Link explains a bit about why and how its done.
Waxing :: Washington State Apple Commission
To note apples have a natural wax coating when picked, the washing and processing removed about 1/2 so they add a natural wax to replace the wax lost.

On a program last year they explained hoe the UK supers do apples. They have enormous warehouses with very accurate temperature and humidity control, and keep vast quantities of apples in (effectively) suspended animation for up to two years. When we buy then they last a good couple of weeks in the fridge and always taste fresh. Especially "Pink Lady" apples from NZ...the absolute best! Crips Pinks is the variety I think. The closest I found in BC were jazz apples or something.

A sense of humour. For example this morning, when HID mentioned she was concerned as she didn't think she had much to contribute to a ministry meeting she was off to, instinctively I suggested that she should just get her tits out. That was followed by a glare and a stoney silence. These cradles have no sense of humour.
