Bye bye Liberal Government..... will you ever learn.

Well. Not federal but interesting read none the less. For those in Sydney who have seen the recent mass development, a lot of it quite bland, but making some developers very wealthy in the process, some welcome news in my boat. And special thanks must go to Labor for the years of neglect.
Baird's plan to take on developers won't work for one reason: public transport

Some of the apartment suburbs are approaching Eastern European Communism density - particularly Zetland and Waterloo. And you're right - they haven't made any additional provision for getting these tens of thousands of new residents too and from work.
There's talk of Abbott pushing a tunnel project from the Spit Bridge to the Warringah freeway, but the plan looks monstrous, and really doesn't do anything to alleviate the new super suburbs.
The trains are already at capacity - trying to get on at Redfern is gettibg harder and harder these days.
I'm not sure if there are any really easy solutions, but they really do need to start to think seriously about how to move more and more people.

You could actually walk from the Bay's precinct to the city.
I think the point being is that the developers went for the rack em stack em and pack em approach like Waterloo and Zetland.
Good to see the government kicking back and saying "yeah you know what, we want something different"

315 people voted for PUP. I think we found the crash test dummies for those submarines.

The banks won't lend money to those who want to mortgage units in Zetland and Waterloo. Also Rhodes and Sydney CBD. They are all in the banks' blacklist of postcodes. Talk about settlement risk.

In part, that's a case of having separated precincts for different industries. It's also going to get affected by automation getting rid of many white collar jobs. And finally automation of the roadways and trains can up capacity in it's own right.

I've been reading about that in the press but I wonder if its actually true. If you look on domain or realestate.com you'd expect there to be plenty of over supply in those areas but there doesn't appear to be.

This counting is ridiculous. It's like they're getting through 1 an hour.

The AEC have released a press statement about how long it's taking. Looks like the Daily Telegraph has hit a raw nerve...

The Electoral Act requires the AEC to wait for up to 13 days after election day to receive any outstanding postal votes

Currently the ABC has 73 to the LNP and 66 to the ALP, 5 others, with 6 in doubt.
Of those 6, 5 have the ALP ahead, and 1 the LNP.
That would mean 74 to the LNP and 71 to the ALP.
Now, it's possible for 1 or 2 of those 5 to swap, which gets you to 75 or 76, but for that bare majority we are looking at a relatively low probability of occurrence, and even with the addition of the clown prince Katter, it's still not a workable number for a government.
And THEN we have the senate, which is even worse for the LNP. The Greens and Nick Xenophon basically have control.
Currently the odds of a second election in 2016 are at 16 - which seems pretty good to me.
