Seems pretty straightforward to me.
Well, there has been nothing shit about the weather for an entire month here. And it was October. So on what basis is UK weather ''shit''? The case for it being ''shit'' is entirely debateable.

However, there is a wealth of unarguable evidence that Aussie music is poor compared to that of the UK, or that there are fewer attractions on your doorstep in Australia than in the UK. That's the difference.

The weather is down to what you define as ''shit''. If you think the fact that the winter is quite cold makes it ''shit'' then fair enough. Some people don't have a problem with 4 or 5 months of cold weather. Sorry.

Not even remotely interesting or funny to read.

Thanks anyway.

Trolling is a word that I don't particularly like but it is understood in this medium or I thought it was.

There appears to be house-rules in the MTBUK forum - if I went into the MTBUK people would respond if I said 'The UK is crap because,..' It's a silly, probably inflammatory post, free speech or not, not just because the subjective matter offends.

But to reference your beef - there was little opinion offered. There are many posters here who would invite anyone to say what they liked about Australia. One of the problems with BE is that we get into debates about rules and what is allowed when infact decent people don't really mind. We debate what can be debated. But often the issue of restriction seems to be in the mind of the OP.

Perhaps you had to be there. But as I seem to remember, we were in the midst of someone shit stirring at the time, so trolling was high on the agenda.

Do you really think that the term trolling should be banned?

You must remember that quite a few of the people in mbttuk probably made many negative comments about Britain prior to leaving and have found life in Aus not to their taste. Not a surprise then that there is a backlash. Many freely admit this and look through new eyes at the UK. There are also many tied with spouses or family and any dissatisfaction with Aus will surely grow if they are tied to a place they do not want to be. There will even be a few who are looking for something they will never find.... I do have great empathy for all these folks but It will not form my opinions.
There are also a variety of people happy in Oz and for a host of different reasons. There may even be some that pretend to be happy as is often thrown out . Sometimes I feel the happy ones are made to feel guilty in expressing this but as I said, you can't help how you feel. There are also a lot of folks with big spoons who like a stir, for whatever reason.

Well I have to say I'm very happy in Aus.
I don't have to work so I get up when I feel like and do pretty much as I please every day.
If it's not too hot, or raining, I play golf.
If it's too hot or raining, I either stay in and drink heavily whilst betting on-line, or go out fishing on my mates boat, drinking heavily.
Some days I just float in the pool all day, again with the drinking.
I love going to the races, the pubs and the casino, again......

Life in Aus couldn't get much better for me.

Classic apologist.
The world laughs at the dismal British climate. It is as debateable as the music bit. ie Not.
I gave up cycling in the Uk because I was fed up cycling in the rain week in, week out. I have yet to cycle in the rain here. Same with Golf.

I simply think that it is rather pathetic how quickly certain members are prepared to start bandying that term around.

As soon as someone says something critical of Australia, or something slightly controversial, instantly they are accused of ''trolling''. It's fine to be relentlessly positive about Australia in every post you submit, but if you are relentlessly negative about Australia you are a ''troll''.

It's lazy and cheap and ultimately empty.

People also do it because they are hoping to get the mods to get involved and back them up. Labelling the nasty poster who said ''I don't like Australia'' a 'troll' is a dependable means of getting support from the moderators.

Someone expressing a view that you are not personally comfortable/happy with does not make them a 'troll'.

Errr, lack of rain is a problem in Australia, not a blessing.

I agree. It is not confined to here, the same happens in mbttuk when anybody suggests that Britain is not Great.

The Australian weather is only 'better' if you are self-focussed and lifestyle obsessed, that ugly twenty-first century disease.

From a broader perspective, low rain levels is a huge issue and not a good thing at all. It is a massive problem and if people were less obsessed with being able to spend all day outside getting skin cancer they'd perhaps realise that.

Would you therefore agree that 'troll' in this circumstance is Ausforumspeak for the equally pathetic MBTTUK term 'Godzoner'?

As far as I am aware, this has never been the case. It's in your head mate. What happens is that there are 2 different opinions, or someone is discussing it. What has been demonstrated in the past is that angry posters with sticks tend to be laughed at whatever their politics.

No it doesn't, I agree.

Question on crowd behaviour:
Is there any poster on this forum who does not like Australia but sometimes thinks some posters just want to carry a stick and invite a carryon? Or do they all feel obliged to 'close ranks' too? If that is the case, then this board will always be a bag of laughs and we will always have a debate around what can be debated!!!!

I often read anti-UK posts on any forum and feel quite dismissive about the person - I would not 'close ranks' on them because I like Australia and therefore might perhaps agree with them in any small way.
